"Freedom '90" by George Michael

During the closing ceremonies, one of the few performers that sang their own classic songs was a strangely-mustached George Michael. Not to be confused with the Wham song “Freedom”, “Freedom ‘90” is often confused with the Wham song. Although they don’t sound alike, I still have to be careful not to play the wrong version on the 9@9.

The video watch it is a very interesting mix of lip-synching supermodels and symbolic defacing of items from George’s “Faith” video. He blew up a guitar and jukebox as well as torched the leather jacket he wore on MTV. It pretty sure that meant he was leaving the ‘80s behind.

I went back and reviewed the video recently and looked for more symbolism, leaving me with a few questions? What was with the paper airplane? Why did the blow up the guitar and jukebox three times each? Why is Cindy Crawford naked in a tube with no water, but later there’s steam? What does the tea kettle symbolize? Start constructing your theories now.
