"Nothing from Nothing" by Billy Preston

Okay, name another song that’s also a math problem.Hey, no fair, School House Rock and Sesame Street don’t count. There is Meatloaf’s “Two Outta Three Ain’t Bad”, but that’s more of a stat. At the moment, we just have 0 - 0 = 0.

Billy Preston was a child protégée who started touring at age 10. Eventually, he ended up being an unofficial member of The Beatles! In ’74 “Nothing from Nothing” was one of thirty-five Number Ones that year. He would go on to play it live on the first Saturday Night Live show.

Billy’s life would make a great VH1 “Behind the Music”. It had early success, unlimited potential, drug abuse, hard times, jail time and an early death in 2006. If you can find it, there is an “Unsung” dedicated to him that aired on TV One. So, I guess he didn’t leave us ‘nothin’ after all”
