"Return To Innocence" by Enigma

I have to admit it, but I can take or leave most electronic music. Some of it seems to just go on and never end. Perhaps that’s the point. There’s electronic music and there’s Enigma.

“Return To Innocence” grabs you with samples of John Bonham’s Zeppelin drum work and just when you’re getting bored, you get a Taiwanese chant. The video for the song is an interesting look at someone’s life in reverse from death to birth. It was directed by Julien Temple whose credits include videos by Whitney Houston, Neil Young, Janet Jackson, and Tom Petty, along with his cinematic masterpiece, “Earth Girls are Easy”.

The US embraced this tune and included it in films and television. It was enjoyed even more in places like Switzerland and Greece where it went to Number One. In the world of electronic music, which is often confined to iPods and raves, Enigma is an enigma.
